Theodore C. "Ted" Treece, age 72, of Alliance, died at 8:55 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at his home.
He was born April 27, 1936 in Barberton, Ohio to Roy and Wilma (Bass) Treece.
Ted was a 1954 graduate of Akron Buchtel High School and was the former owner of Alliance Metals until his retirement in 2001.
If you were fortunate enough to meet Ted, you were greeted with a hearty handshake and a smile. Being part of Ted's inner circle gave you access to a hug or kiss, a joke, a drink, a great cigar, lots of fun and wonderful companionship. He held his friends and family close to his heart and was of a helpful and giving demeanor; often donating steel to schools, for welding classes or where there was a need. A true lover of tradition, whether delivering Christmas whiskey, stringing popcorn on the tree or writing the anniversary number on a wine cork, this was part of his manner.
Ted's last few years were troubled by Parkinson's, but he carried himself through with his customary good humor and dignity. A close friend commented that it takes a lot of years to build the Big Wings that Ted deserves.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Alliance.
Ted is survived by his wife, Lynette (Hamilton) Treece of Alliance, whom he married April 12, 1975; son, Christopher (Carey) Treece of Alliance, three daughters, Tedra Treece of New York, NY, Tracy (Douglas) Loveland Treece of Jessup, MD and Kelly Treece of Akron; three grandchildren, Bonnie, Ted and Christian; two great-grandchildren, Gabe and Gracie, two sisters Sandra (Jack) Sonnenberg of Belle-Air FL and Lee (Steven) Sanford of Brooklyn, NY, one niece Nicole Ancel and one nephew, Bret Ancel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and dog Jake.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
