Thomas Conaway

November 30, 1931 — February 3, 2006

Thomas E. Conaway, age 74 of Deerfield, died at his home at 7:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2006.
He was born Nov. 30, 1931 in Denver Heights, West Virginia to Thomas E. Conaway and Ethel (Burley) Conaway Cain and lived in Deerfield for the past 50 years.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Portage County Engineers in Ravenna, Ohio for 34 ? years, retiring in 1991; and he was the Owner and Operator of the former Sanitary Septic Service for 20 years.
He was the past president of the Local 379 of Ravenna for 10 years, and member of AARP, and P.E.R.I. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, rebuilding antique cars, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Mildred F. (Bandy) Conaway, whom he married Dec. 17, 1950; one daughter, Carolyn (Robert) Stowe of Beloit, one son, Thomas David (Diane) Conaway of Deerfield, three grandchildren, Tommy Conaway, and Courtney and Katie Stowe; one great-grandson, Tommy Conaway, several nieces and nephews; five sisters, Kathleen Mackey of Cameron W.Va., Rosemary (Robert) Cain of Cameron, W.Va., Elizabeth Ann (Jack) Cain of Cameron W.Va., Marguerite (Bernard) Kaczorowski of Baltimore, Md., and Marjorie Hale of Baltimore Md.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Louise McVay, and one brother, Robert Conaway.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Henkel officiating. Friends and family may call from 7-9 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park.
