Thomas E. Lorden, age 86, of Alliance, died at 11:16 a.m. Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Salem Community Hospital.
He was born April 1, 1922 in Alliance to Corneilus A. and Arta C. (Reeder) Lorden and was a lifelong resident.
Thomas retired from Filnor Inc. in 1984. He was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran serving in the Pacific and was the recipient of an American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, a Good Conduct Ribbon and a World War II Medal.
Survivors include his children, Tom (Karen) Lorden of Salem, Jim Lorden of Ft. Myers, FL, Bonnie (Jerry) Barnes and Mary Tuel, both of Virginia Beach, VA, Patrick Lorden of E. Moline, IL and Elaine Lorden of Alliance; grandchildren, Kevin Lorden, Michael Lorden, Shawn (Sharon) Lorden, Tracy (Rafael) Soler, Curt Lorden, Michele Lorden, Robert Curran, Cirra Goad, Merri Katherine Harmon, Todd K. (Melanie) Tuel, Ryan (Melinda) Tuel; great grandchildren, Tommy Lorden Lila Lorden, Cayla Lorden, Felito Soler, Emet Soler, Kendra Soler and Alex Soler, Jenna Lorden, Jacob Tuel and Shaelyn Tuel, Ryan Tuel II and Autumn Tanner, Shelby Curran, Bailey Harmon, Kyndal Harmon, Thomas Curran, and James Goad.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother Harry Lorden.
Friends may call from 3:30- 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2008 with a service at 4:30 p.m. with Pastor Joe Peters officiating at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Alliance City Cemetery.
