Thomas J McConnell

Thomas J. McConnell, age 80, passed away peacefully at Alliance Hospital on Nov. 14th, 2020.

He was born on April 12, 1940 to Frank and Dorothy (Hons) McConnell.  He was the 2nd oldest of 9 children.

Thomas graduated from Alliance High School where he met the love of his life, Susan Myers.  “Tom & Sue” were married on July 31st, 1960 and recently celebrated their 60th anniversary.  During the 60 years that they shared together, they proudly raised 3 sons and were of constant praise of their 11 grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sue (Myers) McConnell, his sons, Scott (Heather) McConnell, Stephen (Melody) McConnell and Shawn (Kristi) McConnell; his  grandchildren, Katie, Jacob, Madison and Justin;  Seth, Logan and Kelsie;  Julien, Jordan, Stella and Hannah.  His surviving siblings are Robert, Donald and Karen.

During his Journey of Life, Thomas was never a stranger to hard work. He was employed as a welder and spent his career building semi-trailers @ East Mfg., Mac Trailer & Trailstar.  His work didn’t stop there as he was an active member of his nephew – Pastor David Ashbrook’s church - Maximo Zion, where he was a trustee and a devoted member.

Thomas enjoyed bowling; but more importantly, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  Thomas was always there to help his friends and family when they needed him, no matter the size of the problem.  We know that Thomas will continue his work as he enters the gates of heaven.

A funeral service will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 18th at Maximo Zion Church. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Please wear your mask, and social distancing practices will be observed.
