Thomas Teal

Thomas W. Teal, age 76 of Alliance, passed away Wednesday in Aultman Hospital He was born July 25, 1929 in Alliance, Ohio to Robert H. Teal and Lula May (Myers) Teal Littleton.
Thomas was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alliance. He retired from the Babcock and Wilcox Tubular Division after working as a Millwright. Thomas was a Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force, and was honorably discharged in April, 1952.
Tom was dedicated to the success of the Alliance Senior Citizens Center, and instrumental with the start up and the ongoing operation of the Bingo Program. He was past chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Alliance Senior Center and continued as a Board Member. He also served as president of the Mayor's Commission for ten years, was named senior of the year in Alliance and senior volunteer for Stark County in the early 1990's.
Mr. Teal was also President of the United Steel Workers of America. He was an avid golfer, and organized golf tournaments at the Alliance Senior Center.
Surviving are his wife, Iola (Paris) Teal, whom he married June 16, 1951; two sons, Thomas W. (Brenda) Teal II of Indiana, Pa., and James C. (Karen) Teal of Paris, Ohio; one daughter, Bonnie A. (Robert) Smith of East Rochester; three sisters, Virginia (Ray) Fetty of Navarre, Genevieve (Archie) Domer of Canton, and Betty Lou Gyalog of Canton; two brothers, William (Lenore) Teal of Alliance, and Robert (Betty) Teal of Canada; four grandchildren, Jason S. Teal of Indiana, Pa., Kelly A. Teal and her fianc?e Thomas Miller of Alliance; Michelle M. (Kenny) Mallow of Alliance, and Daniel Steed of the U.S. Air Force; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Thelma M. Stanford, who passed away Nov. 21, 1997.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Fr. Donald Feicht officiating. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
