Tracy Lynn Holmes, age 46, of Newark, Delaware, passed away at 4:22 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2015, at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born November 30, 1968, in Spring Lake, North Carolina, to Donald H. and Connie L. (Antoline) Holmes.
Tracy was a 1987 graduate of Louisville High School, 1994 graduate of Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, and was formerly employed at the Marriott Corporation for twenty five years.
Tracy was an award-winning hotel professional with proven success in the hospitality and education industry representing many of the country's top hotel companies. Her hands-on management approach has resulted in the leadership of the number two Marriott Courtyard franchise in the world for several years, and the only hotel utilized as a Marriott Conference Training Facility, an extension of the University of Delaware's Hotel program.
Her MarriOtters program has been nationally acknowledged with the Lindt Gold Bunny Award, and the National Association of Professional Women recognized her as the State of Delaware's Hospitality Educator of the Year and Rotary's Paul Harris Distinguished Service award. She also earned a Diamond customer service level in the hotel industry.
She was an adjunct professor for the Hospitality program at the University of Delaware. She was an active environmental speaker, promoting green initiatives in the hospitality industry. She had the first Green hotel in her area.
Tracy took an active role in promoting the integration of the deaf into the hospitality workforce, Autism awareness, and an active shepherd of the environment as well as fostering healthy eating and living for children and families across her community and the food bank at Cedars Church of Christ.
Tracy never lost sight of the fact that it is the people that make a difference in any organization. She reached her goal in life by making a difference in many people's lives. In the end it is not the years in your life, but the life in your years.
She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her parents, Connie L. Holmes (Kenneth Grimes) of Louisville and Donald H. (Maxine) Holmes of Louisville; sister, Debbie (Steve) Frederick of Damascus; special niece, Stephanie Frederick; her faithful companion, Courage; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and loyal friends.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
