Vasile Vasu

Vasile Vasu, age 78, of Alliance, died at 9 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at his home.
He was born July 13, 1933, in Arpasu De Jos, Romania, to Vartolomeu Leon and Maria (Pavel) Vasu.
Vasile was employed in the railroad industry in Romania in freight handling until his retirement in 1989.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church. He enjoyed farming, his family, grandchildren, and friends and loved living in America.
Vasile is survived by his wife, Maria (Vasu) Vasu of Alliance whom he married May 26, 1957; daughter, Maria Vasu of Alliance; son, George (Jenny) Vasu of Alliance and four grandchildren, Adrian, Cristian, Dumitru and Liviu.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2011, at St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church co-officiated by the Rev. Fr. Pantelimon Stanciu and the Rev. Fr. Vasile Barsan. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. A Saracusta Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Mount Union Cemetery.
