Velma E. Slusser, age 87 of Alliance, died at 3:00 a.m. May 23, 2006 at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born April 12, 1919 in Los Angeles, California to Isaac Marshall Benjamin and Eva V. (Skaggs) Benjamin Reed and lived in Alliance most of her life. A 1936 graduate of Alliance High School, Mrs. Slusser was a member of the Southside Church of God, where she belonged to the Women and Prayer Groups, W.C.T.U., and formerly taught Sunday school.
Survivors include three sons, Edward L. (Janet) Slusser Jr. of Sebring, David Slusser of Alliance, and Keith (Emily) Slusser of Alliance; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward L. Slusser Sr., who died Nov. 29, 2002, and whom she married in 1936; and three brothers, Chester, William and James Benjamin.
Services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor David Storlie officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
