Victor Ioan Vasu, age 63, of Alliance, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Aultman Hospital.
He was born June 21, 1950 in Arpasu de Jos, Romania, to the late Victor and Zorita Vasu.
Victor served in the Romanian Military and worked as an electrician in Romania until 1990 when he immigrated to the United States with his wife Maria, sons Liviu and Dumitru. They settled in Alliance, Ohio which he loved dearly. Victor worked at Alliance Castings and since 1993 for Combi Packaging as an assembly technician.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church. He enjoyed playing a lot of sports, going fishing with his son Dumitru and talking art with his son Liviu. He was also a passionate gardener, enjoyed cooking and studying history.
Victor is survived by his wife, Maria of Alliance; sons, Liviu of New York and Dumitru of Alliance; sisters, Maria Marcu of Alliance, and Adriana Stermin of Romania; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday (tonight) at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. A Saracusta Service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church with Rev. Father John Nemes officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church, 1621 S. Sawburg, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
