Victoria C. "Vicky" Husat, age 97, recently of Tallmadge, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2008.
She was born in Alliance, Ohio where she lived until 1945 when she and her husband Samuel F. Husat, moved to Hudson. He was chairman of the foreign language department at Western Reserve Academy until his death in 1964. She continued to be active in the campus life of the Academy.
She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Alliance and the Pioneer Women's Club at Western Reserve Academy. She was a former member of the Hudson Woman's Club, Hudson Garden Club, Hudson League for Service and chairman of the Book Review Club.
She was a volunteer for Akron Children's Hospital, taught a kindergarten class at the First Congregational Church of Hudson and helped raise money for the little league baseball teams sponsored by the Hudson Kiwanis Club.
She was also a volunteer for the war effort during World War II at the time her husband was in the European Theater of War, where he served in the Army Intelligence Service and participated in the Invasion of Normandy on D-Day.
She is survived by a son, Donovan D. (Vacelia) Husat of Hudson, Ohio, a granddaughter, Nikki (Niko) Avdis of Sacramento, CA; a grandson, David F. Husat of Hudson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Peter Craciun, Jr., Nick Craciun and John Craciun; and a sister, Mrs. John (Mary) Miza.
There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Heather Knoll in Tallmadge for their loving care over the last several years.
