Vincent John Cotton Sr., age 85, of Alliance, died at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born October 21, 1925, in Alliance, Ohio, to Joseph Vincent and Providence (Demmia) Cotton.
Vince retired from Morgan Engineering after more than 42 years of dedicated service.
He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church, and was a U. S. Navy Veteran, having served during WWII, stationed at Great Lakes, IL. He was a member of the Christopher Columbus Society.
Survivors include his son, Vincent J. Cotton, Jr. of Lexington, KY; sister, Lena Strickler of Canton; brother, Sam Cotton of Maximo; sister-in-law, Gloria Cotton of Canton; several nieces, nephews, and many friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jackie (Kiser) Cotton whom he married January 22, 1949 and who died May 8, 2002; sister, Josephine Russell; brothers, Atsey Cotton and Joe Cotton; sister-in-law, Judy Cotton; and brothers-in-law, Ed Russell and Jim Strickler.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Fr. Matthew Mankowski officiating. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
