Vincent Obmann

Vincent Obmann, age 91, passed on December 3, 2024. He was born on February 27, 1933 in Erie, PA to Thelka and Jacob Obmann. Preceding him in death were his parents, his sister, Catherine Gess, brother, Al Obmann, and former spouse, Eleanor Obmann. He is survived by his brother, Richard (Maryanne) Obmann, brother-in-law, Gene (Betty) Reda, children, Sherry (Curt) Moniz and Christopher (Jackie) Obmann, grandchildren, Julie Moniz, Christie Anderson, Rachel Shackleton, and Sydney Obmann, great grandchildren, Vinnie and Elle Anderson, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Vince graduated in 1951 from Erie Strong Vincent High School where he lettered in four sports, was president of his class all four years, and is a member of his high school's Hall of Fame. He was recruited to play baseball at Mount Union College, where he lettered in multiple sports each year, and was also a New York Yankees prospect. He was the president of his class and the Key Club each year, and a member of the National Honors Society. He graduated from Mount Union College in 1955 with a degree in business and served as a math instructor in the US Navy.

As an alumni, he was the president of the M Club, and served as chairperson for the Hall of Fame Selection Committee. In 2006, he received the Doddie Davis Alumni Service Award for his commitment to serving the Mount Union College community for over sixty plus years. Vince was the President and CEO of Robertson Electric Company for 38 years. He served on the Board of Directors for the Alliance Hot Stove League for 23 years, and received the Cy Butler Award in 1987 for his outstanding service. He also served on the following Alliance committees: the Federal Revolving Loan Fund, the Alliance Shade Tree Commission, and the Alliance Property Maintenance Board.

Vince loved his family and friends, and will be dearly missed. His positive impact on the Alliance community will not be forgotten. 

The family will receive guests at Cassaday Turkle Funeral Home on Friday, January 17th from 2pm to 4pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on January 18th at 10am at Regina Coeli Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. A reception will be held at Regina Coeli following the interment. Memorial contributions may be made to Regina Coeli Catholic Church, 663 Fernwood Blvd., Alliance, OH 44601.
