Violet May Barker, age 89, of Deerfield passed away on April 12, 2021.
She was born on September 25, 1931 in New Baltimore, Ohio to Clarence and Lottie (Weekly) Mercer.
Violet enjoyed watching customers at Spillway Marine where she worked and owned for 53 years with her husband, Wayne Barker and Melvin Dean. Her favorite ways to pass the time were sitting on her porch with her grandchildren, watching Gunsmoke and being with her animals. Violet loved cooking and laughing in her kitchen.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, James C. Barker; grandchildren, Melissa and Mark (business partner) Bann, Michelle and Dan Bright; great-grandchildren, Ryan (Mariah) Leifheit, Megan (Brian Sari) Bright, Matthew (Lauren) Bright, and Mallori (Seth Dugan) Bright; and great-great grandchildren, Malawna, Micah, Carson, Maveryck, Easton, Cole and Brantley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne L. Barker, whom she married on August 18, 1945 and who passed on August 4, 2007; and her great-great-grandchildren, Mylo Dean and Baby Sari.
A graveside service will be held at Deerfield Cemetery Chapel on Friday, April 16th at 2:30 p.m with Dustin Kean officiating.
