Violet L. Strain Niamtu

Violet L. Strain Niamtu, age 92 of North Canton, passed away on June 1, 2018. Violet was born in Alliance, Ohio, on September 26, 1925 to the late Jose and Casilda Garcia. She enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Florida and many adventures with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Niamtu, Jr.; her son, Michael Strain; daughter, Linda (John) Freconna; grandchildren, Violet, Joshua, Jeremy, Lennon and Christy Strain and Johnny and Jenifer Freconna, along with four great-grandchildren; and special daughter-in-law, Chris Fletcher. Violet is also survived by her husband's children, Dr. Joseph (April) Niamtu III, Marilyn (Dennis) Holbrook, James Niamtu and Lisa (Scott) Waite, as well as their children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul E. Strain; sister and brother-in-law, Ludivina (Lu) and Norm Peters; and brother, Israel Garcia.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home in Alliance with the Very Reverend John E. Sheridan officiating. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until noon, on Wednesday, prior to the service. Burial will take place at Fairmount Memorial Park in Alliance.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Mercy Medical Center, who offered exemplary care and compassion to Violet and those who loved her.
In lieu of flowers the family welcomes donations to the Basilica of St. John the Baptist in Canton or Walsh University in North Canton.
