Virgil Boyd Stoudt, age 83 of Alliance, passed away at 5:10 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Community Care Center.
He was born Oct. 8, 1925 in Alliance, Ohio to Homer Boyd and Helen (Smith) Stoudt.
Mr. Stoudt graduated from Alliance High School, and was the owner of Stoudt Printing Company.
He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church; former member, Elder, Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher at Bethany Presbyterian Church.
Virgil served on the board of directors for Alliance Rotary, president of the Marlington Booster Club, Scout Master of Troop 106 at Bethany Presbyterian Church, and former member of the M Club at Mount Union College.
Virgil loved books, traveling, fishing and gardening.
A U.S. Navy WWII Veteran, Mr. Stoudt served with the Submarine Division during the Pacific Theater.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda (Hively) Stoudt, whom he married June 26, 1946; sons, Forest B. (Bridget) Stoudt of Alliance, and Brian L. (Connie) Stoudt of Minerva; grandchildren, Craig B. Stoudt of Canton, Kirk E. Stoudt of Dayton, Cari (William) Voegeli of Alliance, Rebekah (Hans) Nilges of N. Canton, Melinda (Christopher) Mack of Lorton, VA; great-grandsons, William Nilges and Oliver Mack; sister, Wanda (Robert) Albrich of Alliance, and brother, Roger (Marie) Stoudt of Alliance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Robert Stoudt.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday March 17, 2009 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Jim McCurdy officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
