Virgil Springer, age 87, passed away on October 21, 2024.
He was born on April 11, 1936, in Alliance, to Brinton and Mildred “Toots” Springer.
Virgil graduated from Alliance High School in 1954. He then went on to Kent State, graduating in 1958, and Seminary School in 1961. Virgil married his wife, Claire, five days before graduating from Seminary School, on June 10, 1961.
Virgil was a science teacher at Marlington Middle School where he was beloved by his students. He also served as a United Methodist Preacher and was a mentor within the church. When Virgil moved in to Copeland Oaks, he became their photographer and videographer for events and was a Senior Life Saver at Camp Wonake.
Virgil loved Disney, the Cleveland Indians, traveling to Williamsburg, VA and Germany, and boating at Lake Mowhawk.
Those left to cherish his memory are his brother, Royal (Edie) Springer and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Bill Shipp; and his wife, Claire.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
