Virgil G. Vulcu, age 52, of Alliance, died at 2:44 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2007 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born December 27, 1954 in Alliance.
Virgil was a 1972 graduate of Alliance High School and then received his Bachelors Degree in Science from Mount Union College. He then received his Doctorate in Medicine and Pharmacy in 1985 in Bucurest. He later received a degree in Boston for Nuclear Medicine.
Mr. Vulcu taught Ambassadors children in the American Embassy and taught MRI techniques in the U.S., United Kingdom and Romania.
Virgil was a member of the Romanian Orthodox Church and U.R. Transylvania Society.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Survivors include his mother Mary V. Gainor of Alliance; one aunt and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father Sam Vulcu, sister Virginia Vulcu and step-father Chuck Gainor.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Nicholas Romanian Church with the Very Rev. Pantelimon Stanciu officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. A Saracusta Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
