Virginia C. Pfeifer, age 89, of Alliance, passed away at 11:10 a.m., Thursday, January 29, 2015, at Canterbury Villa.
She was born April 1, 1925, in New Milford, Ohio, to Carmine and Sabatina (Carone) Roberto.
A graduate of Rootstown High School in 1943 and Kent State in 1958, Virginia was an elementary school teacher. She taught at Greenbower, Lexington and Marlboro Elementary schools in Alliance and at Bertha Bradshaw Elementary School in Rootstown.
She was a member of the Atwater Congregational Church where she played the piano for many years. She enjoyed baking, quilting, and traveling, especially, with her sisters to Italy where her family was from. She was also an avid reader.
Survivors include her daughter, JoAnne (Bob) Dagenhardt of Atwater; son, John (Belinda) Pfeifer of Richmond, Virginia; six grandsons; four great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons; and a sister, Rose Brown of Alliance.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sterling Pfeifer whom she married August 31, 1945 and who died December 4, 1997; a sister; and five brothers.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Interment will be at Limaville Cemetery.
