Virginia K. Whitacre age 95 of Alliance died at 5:10 p.m. December 21, 2003 at Mercy Medical Center. She was born October 18, 1908 in Columbus, Ohio to William F. and Elizabeth (Jones) Kaemmerer.
Mrs. Whitacre lived in Alliance since 1929, and was a graduate of North High School in Columbus, Ohio and attended Ohio State University.
A member of First Christian Church, she was also a member of AARP Chapter 2630 and served as vice-president and secretary. She was a member of the YWCA and active with Meals on Wheels. She was also active in volunteer work with the Alliance Chapter of the American Red Cross and Molly Stark Hospital, member and former secretary of Church Women United, Christian Women's Fellowship and served in many offices, and was a Diaconete of First Christian Church.
Survivors include three sons, Ted Arthur Whitacre of Magnolia, Ohio Lawrence Glenn Whitacre of Upland, California, and William Harry Whitacre of Massillon, Ohio and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Whitacre was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leland H. Whitacre, whom she married Aug. 10, 1929, and who died March 25, 1971, and one brother William Kaemmerer..
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church with Sue Dehoff officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
