Wade Allen Fox, age 94, of Marlboro, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at 1:28 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Alliance Community Care Center.
He was born December 11, 1923, in Marlboro Township, Ohio, to Jasper and Blanche (Keller) Fox.
A 1941 graduate of Marlboro High School, Wade served in the U.S. Army during WWII earning various honors including the Purple Heart. Wade was proud of his service and shared his war experiences with his family as well as many Marlington students over the years.
Mr. Fox worked for the former Bettis Market of Bolton, before retiring in 1989 after 26 years of service as a custodian for Marlington Local Schools.
He attended Randolph United Methodist Church, and was a member of United Commercial Travelers, AARP, 3rd Armored Division Association, the American Legion, and was a former member of Marlboro Grange.
Survivors include his wife Audrey E. (Bettis) Fox, whom he married March 15, 1947; two daughters, Denise (David) Owen, Paula (Jeffrey) Baker; two sons, Dana (Barbara) Fox and Alan (Deborah) Fox; grandchildren, David (Jeni) Owen, Amy (James) Ferguson, Jonathan (Joelle) Owen, Janelle (Rich) Hart, Keara (Dan) Koehler, Brent (Michelle) Fox, Emily (Ryan) Holzer, Katie Fox, Abbie Fox, Rachel (Jacob) Peters, Mary Fox, and Naomi Fox; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Virginia (Karl) Stuart; and a brother, Paul Fox.
Wade always considered himself a farmer and was known in the community as a lover of people, an avid gardener, and a producer of tasty maple syrup, cider, and apple butter. He loved dancing with his wife Audrey and attended many dances over the years, the most special of which being the one where they met. But his greatest joy by far was spending time with his loving "precious" family.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 14, 2018, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Cochran officiating. Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Friday.
Private Family Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Wade's name to Alliance Hospice and Marlington Alumni Association.
