Wade G. Ray, age 93, of Alliance, passed away at 10:35 p.m., Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring.
He was born March 23, 1920, in Alliance, to Guy Emery and Lillie Belle (Durose) Ray.
A graduate of Minerva High School, Wade was a farmer, a self-employed contractor and owner-operator of Wade Ray Builders since 1960.
He was a member of Silver Park Church of Christ for 59 years, taught adult and teen bible classes and led singing in the church. He was a 4-H advisor for 15 years with the Baby Beef Club.
Survivors include his wife, Armada (Heestand) Ray of Alliance, whom he married August 26, 1939; daughters, Shirley Matz of Ashland, Judy Guidebeck of Ft. Pierce, FL, and Sue Gatien of Canton; sons, Gilbert Ray of Loganville, GA, Gary Ray of Burnsville, NC and David Ray of Santa Barbara, CA; sister, Olive Kelley of Alliance; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Hal Ray in 1950; two brothers, Lloyd Ray and Gale Ray; grandson, Dustin Ray and an infant great-grandson.
Services will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, November 18, 2013, at Cassaday Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Mr. Ed Holcomb of Silver Park Church of Christ officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park at a later date.
