Walter James "Bud" Fox, Jr., age 68, of Alliance was promoted to Glory at 9:13 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at Community Care Center.
He was born April 2, 1941, in West Union, West Virginia to Walter J. Sr., and Audra (Dodd) Fox.
Bud graduated from Alliance High School in 1959 and then served with the United States Army. He received his nickname when his little brother, Loren "Butch" Fox claimed him to be his best Buddy.
Bud was a welder at Alliance Machine for 38 years and retired in 2003. He was affiliated with Solid Rock Fellowship Church in Hartville, and was a 26 year partner with the Plus or Minus "60" Ministry of Louisville. Bud was a quiet man who professed Christ as his Savior and walked softly. He said what he meant and meant what he said. Bud would be described by those who knew him best as a private person, a perfectionist who believed that anything worth doing was worth doing right. He never asked for anything, but would always help anyone. He will be deeply missed and always remembered by those who loved him.
Survivors include his childhood sweetheart and loving wife, Shirley Kay (Myers) Fox, whom he married June 15, 1962 and with whom he would have celebrated 48 years of marriage this year; two sons, Phillip Fox (fianci½, Jan Brown) of Powder Springs, Georgia and Gary (Martha) Fox of Ball Ground, Georgia; brother, Loren "Butch" (Starr) Fox of Alliance; grandchildren, Phillip Jr., Jacob, Madison and Christopher; great-grandchildren Judith Rose and Nathan; stepgrandchildren, Tiffany, Scott and Christopher; stepgreat-grandchildren, Thailyn, Skyler, Emma and Lydia; several aunts, nieces and nephews; as well as family members, Jim (Bonnie) Myers, Vera May, Edith Spears, Marge (Denny) Hazen, Joanne Kapalko and Janet (Joe) Lowes.
