Walter Jorney, age 76, of Alliance died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born July 18, 1931 in Powhatan Point, Ohio to Andrew and Elizabeth (Johnson) Jorney and lived most of his life in the Alliance area.
A graduate of Alliance High School, Mr. Jorney graduated from technical school in Nashville and worked as a Mig Welder for 29 years for Transue and Williams Stamping Division.
He attended Alliance Evangelical Friends Church and was a U. S. Air Force Veteran.
Mr. Jorney is survived by his wife, Mary Etta (Gibbons) Jorney; daughters, Treva (Randy) Hutchison of Bloomsburg, Pa., Joy (Hari) Gurung of Alliance, and Anita (Mark) Gifford of Wooster; grandsons, Brint, Seth and Shane Gurung, and Blaine and David Hutchison; sisters, Ann Bell of New Mexico, Julia Strazi of Massillon, and Helen Kridler of North Carolina; and brother, George Jorney of Homeworth.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Mike and Tom.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Sams of the Alliance Evangelical Friends Church officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
