Walter C. Kesterke, age 90, of Alliance, passed away at 12:23 p.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at his home.
He was born January 17, 1925 in Louisville, Ohio to Charles T. and Alta E. (Oyster) Kesterke.
A graduate of Marlboro High School, Mr. Kesterke was a U.S. Army WWII veteran; self-employed farmer and truck driver for Clem Lumber.
Mr. Kesterke was a longtime member of Science Hill Community Church. He served as a trustee for the Marlboro Cemetery Association for 24 years; and enjoyed gardening, sports, hunting and playing cards.
Walter is survived by his daughter, Janice (Dale) Lucas; son, Lynn (Becky) Kesterke, both of Alliance; four grandchildren, Brenda (Brendon) Baughman, Michael (Jeanelle) Lucas, Valerie (Dennis) Crumbley and Charles (Ann) Kesterke; and eight great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Florence (Worley) Kesterke, whom he married December 7, 1947, and who died May 2, 2011; and an infant brother, William.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday August 17, 2015 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Smith officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday.
Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Science Hill Community Church, or Alliance Hospice.
