Walter Woodrow Reber, 88, of Atwater, died April 8.
He was born May 19, 1936, to Albert and Maymie Reber and grew up in Washington Township.
Walter worked for 44 years as a bricklayer, building everything from schools to mansions, before he retired in 1998. He enjoyed golfing, watching baseball, camping in National Parks across the country and family cookouts, where he was always on the lookout for a good piece of pie.
Walter attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Alliance and enjoyed sharing the Bible’s message of comfort with others. One of his favorite scriptures was John 11:25, where Jesus said: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.”
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Albert, Alvin, Eldon and Homer Reber; and sisters Helen Martin and Arlene Reber.
He is survived by Joyce, his wife of 70 years; children Debbie (Bill) Hoover, Pam (John) Kittle, and Dennis (Kim) Reber; grandsons Shane (Sara) Hoover, Derek (Teniesha) Hoover, and Tyler (Makayla) Reber; sister, Ellen White; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., April 19th, at the Kingdom Hall, 701 W. Main St., Alliance.
