Wanda M. Swarts

Wanda M. Swarts, age 79, of Alliance, died at her home at 10:42 p.m. December 16, 2006.
She was born Feb. 8, 1927 in Beloit, Ohio to Dwight and Alice (McLaughlin) Hawkins and lived most of her life in Alliance.
A 1944 graduate of Alliance High School, Mrs. Swarts drove school bus for Alliance public schools for 17 years. She was previously employed by the former Cope Electric and B&W Research.
She was a member of the Auxiliary to Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.
Survivors include her children Wanda Jo (Timothy) Cameron of Alliance, Alice M. Swarts of Alliance, Ron A. Swarts of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Jeff C. Swarts of Alliance; four grandchildren, Dana, Ian, Dylan and Stephanie, one niece, one nephew, and close companion Charles Kannal of Alliance.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, F.W. "Joe" Swarts, whom she married Sept. 21, 1953, and who died in 1979, one son, William D. Swarts, and one brother, Ronald Hawkins.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Peters officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
