Wanda E. Weast

Wanda E. (Middleton) Weast, age 88, passed away at 5:00 p.m. at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital on December 5, 2023 after a brief illness.

She was born July 6, 1935 to Letha B. (Dean) and Estel Middleton in Ironton, Ohio. She graduated from Marlboro High School and Gerber Beauty College. She worked at the Hartville Basket Factory during two summers of high school, State Service Supply Office (Alliance), Wanda’s Beauty Shop (Marlboro) and Molly Stark Hospital (Louisville) where she retired as the business office manager.

Her hobbies were crafts, sewing, and quilting, gardening, and entertaining her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She greatly enjoyed genealogy and researching her family tree which she dedicated much time to. Family gatherings and reunions were a major passion in her life and brought her much joy, laughter, and great memories. She helped to form the Marlboro Kindergarten and was a member of Marlboro Christian Church, Marlboro Alumni Association and former member of Marlington Alumni Association.  

She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 59 years and high school sweetheart, Richard L. Weast Sr. They were married on January 29, 1955; two newborn children; sisters, Jan Dluzak and Shirly Gary; and brother, Marvin Middleton.

Surviving her are son, Richard L. Weast Jr. of Marlboro; her daughter, Tamera J. Walls of Alliance; grandchildren, Tanae (J.C.) Walls, Derek (Whitney) Weast, and Jason (Chelsea) Weast; great-grandchildren, Shae, Sully, Sawyer, Lauren, Alicia, Bridgette, and Maggie; sisters, Sarah (Jordan) Cojocar, Marcella (Argus) Barker; brothers, Scott (Jackie) Middleton, Toni (Jani) Middleton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 12^th at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Marlington Alumni Association or the Marlboro Historical Society in Wanda’s name to support the community she loved and called her home for so many wonderful years.
