Warner C. Gross, age 91 of Alliance, died at 5:04 p.m. February 7, 2004 at Alliance Community Hospital.
Mr. Gross was born June 18, 1912 in Alliance to Carl and Marie (Schuster) Gross and was a lifelong Alliance resident.
A 1931 graduate of Alliance High School, he attended Mount Union College and Kent State University.
Mr. Gross taught Industrial Arts for Alliance City Schools for 15 years, including Adult Education. Prior to teaching, Warner was involved with the building trades business for many years, and was also employed by Clem Lumber and the former Tolerton Lumber Company.
A member of Alliance Evangelical Friends Church, he was also a member of Rotary, secretary for 8 years, Rotarian of the Year for 1987-1988, and Paul Harris Fellow recipient.
Mr. Gross was a member of the local, state, and national Teacher's Associations. He was also a secretary of the Builders Supply Bowling League at Parkway Lanes for 25 years, and had a great passion for woodworking.
Warner is survived by his wife Barbara Kay (Warren) Gross, whom he married Dec. 30, 1992, one son, Charles L. (Catherine) Gross of Alliance, one step-son Dale F. Scott, of Alliance, five grandchildren, Tricia, Jennifer, Amy, David and Michael, and two great-grandchildren, Rachel and Jack.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Jeannette Gross, who died May 28, 1992, one infant son, one sister Hermine Nagy, one infant grandson, and one son, Timothy W. Gross.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Sams officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
