Warren A. Betz Sr.

October 11, 1939 — April 26, 2024

Warren A. Betz Sr., age 84 of Alliance, passed away peacefully at 8:10 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2024 at McCrea Manor.

Warren was born October 11, 1939 in Beloit, Ohio to Orie G. and Nora Edith (Simmons) Betz.

A 1959 graduate of Goshen High School, Warren worked as a truck driver for Clem Lumber for seven years. He was previously employed by the U.S. Government as an Administrator Officer of Flight Operations for twenty-three years, retiring in 1990.

Warren had served a total of twenty-seven years with the U.S. Army/National Guard as a CW3, after enlisting in 1962.

A life member of the Alliance Friends Church, Warren was active with the Mens Prayer Breakfast and supporting Mission Trips, including going to Guatamala.

He was also a member of the Washington Township Ruritans and Alliance Amercian Legion.

Warren enjoyed traveling to Florida, gardening, canning, and cooking. He was known for baking pies, and picking and taking berries to others, a gift he shared for more than thirty years.

He will be loved and missed by his family, including his wife, Ruby Asplund-Betz;  his children; Eunice A. (Paul) Castellucci, Bruce A. (Cathy) Betz, Warren A. (JR) Betz Jr., and Colleen A. (Fred) Wafler; seven grandchildren, Thomas, Andrew, Bryan, Lindsey, Kristin, Jerry and Haley; two step-grandchildren, Chad and Amanda; three great-grandchildren, Weston, Sadie, and Reaghan; two sisters, Velma Morris and Betty Baker, and two brothers, Ralph Betz and Dale Betz. 

He  was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Shirley Betz, whom he married March 31, 1962, and who died October 19, 2012.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Alliance Friends Church with Pastor Russ Gumm officiating.

Friends may call from 10-11 .m. Thursday at the church.

Interment with Military Honors will be at Highland Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church Car Care Ministry, which was spearheaded by Warren, c/o Alliance Friends Church, 1307 W. State St. Alliance, OH 44601.
