Dr. Wayne V. Denny, age 80, of Alliance, passed away at 10:55 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2023 at Aultman Alliance Hospital.
Wayne was born October 3, 1942 in Alliance, Ohio to Richard L. and Geneive B. (Cameron) Denny.
A graduate of Alliance High School
Wayne received his B.S. in Elementary Education from Mount Union College; his M.S. in Elementary Administration, and his PhD. from the University of Akron.
Wayne was in Education for more than 30 years. He taught at Berea City Schools and Sebring Local Schools. He was a graduate assistant at the University of Akron, Assistant Director and Director of various programs and planning with Canton City Schools for many years.
Wayne’s presentations for national, state and local meetings included topics relating to reading, mathematics, computer education, and grant writing.
Wayne was a member of Buckeye Association of School Administrators, Phi Delta Kappa, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Canton City Schools, Northeast Ohio and Ohio School Supervisor’s Association.
He had volunteered with the Canton School Employees Federal Credit Union, and the United Way.
A member of Union Avenue United Methodist Church, Wayne loved music. He was in the church choir, and sang in gospel and barbershop quartets. He performed as a soloist with the Cleveland Orchestra and Mount Union Choir.
He will be loved and missed by his family, including his wife Judy A (Robison); daughter, Dawn Denny; son, Wayne (Amy) Denny; three grandchildren; and sister, Meredith (Lawson) Smart.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Don (Jodene) Denny.
A private service will be held at Bethel United Church Cemetery at a later date.
