Wayne Parker King

February 13, 1934 — November 12, 2007

Wayne Parker King, age 73, a lifelong resident of Alliance, died at 9:15 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2007 at Kolob Care Center, St. George, Utah, of a long illness due to cancer.
Mr. King was born February 13, 1934 in Ravenna, Ohio to Paul Hewins and Audrey Caroline (Parker) King.
He was a 1952 graduate of Ravenna High School, attended Kent State University and a machinist trade school.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since 1974 and served in the Columbus, Ohio Temple for five and a half years.
Mr. King was a certified machinist at Morgan Engineering for 28 years and Alliance Machine for ten years before his retirement in 1998. He was a former member of the Taylor Craft Flying Club, loved working on cars, delivered Meals on Wheels, and was a former Boy Scout and Cub Scout Leader. He received The Order of the Arrow and was a 4 year Pipestone Recipient. He also was a beekeeper for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Nona (Fish) King, whom he married March 24, 1956; daughters, Denise L. (Steven) Mellen of Magna, Utah, Laura M. (Milo) Hughes of St. George, Utah, and Joyce (John) Koval of Hartville, Ohio; sister, Dorothy (Leonard) Byers of Alliance; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved dog, Marmaduke.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, 2260 Hedgewood Ave. Alliance, Ohio with Bishop Richard Dutson officiating. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
