Wilbert E. Bayless

Wilbert E. Bayless, age 88, of Alliance, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Saturday June 18, 2016 at Canterbury Villa. He was born February 25, 1928 in Barberton, Ohio to Elmer and Geneva (Green) Bayless. A career U. S. Army soldier, Mr. Bayless served during WWII, the Korean Conflict, Vietnam and completed tours of duty in Turkey and the Dominican Republic. He was a dedicated member of the Atwater Community Nazarene Church. Wilbert enjoyed raising cows, being a hobby farmer and flying gliders and remote airplanes. Survivors include his wife, Betty J. (Stull) Bayless, whom he married Aug. 15, 1969; children, Tony Bayless, Vicky Bayless Johnson, and Philbert Bayless; step-children, Sonya Wasson and Ruby Pahls; sisters, Charlotte Noling, Rosilyn Boyle and Donna Williams; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Danny Bayless, and siblings, Edgar Moore, Carol Jean Raymond and Delores Moore.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 21st at the Atwater Community Nazarene Church with Rev. Neal Taylor officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Atwater Cemetery.
