Our loving and caring father, Willard James "Breeze" Briggs, age 92, of Limaville, Ohio, went to be with the love of his life, his wife, Kathryn Ann, at 11 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born April 16, 1922, in Sebring, Ohio, to the late Willard J. and Nora M. (Johnson) Briggs.
A graduate of Sebring High School, Willard was a freight solicitor for various trucking companies.
A United States Army veteran, he served in the European Theater as a Sergeant during World War II. He was an altar boy on his ship as it traveled to Europe and also chauffeured Bob Hope while he was entertaining the troops. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. He was of the Catholic faith.
Mr. Briggs was a kind, hard-working man, who was a pleasure to be around. He enjoyed joking with and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Darcy Morrison of Knoxville, Tennessee, Sue Konz of Alliance, Bruce (Olga) Morrison of Weatherford, Texas, Kathy (Jimmy) Favazzo and Debbie (Tony) Purses, both of Alliance; grandchildren, Douglas McMurdy, Susie (Troy) Fatula, Beth Morrison, Beverly Morrison, Jimmy (Amanda) Favazzo Jr. and Nicholas A. (Lindsay) Favazzo; great-grandchildren, Bryce and Reid Fatula, Billy Singleton, Mia Rosa Morrison and Jimmy Favazzo III; and sister, Jule Ann (Elmer) Day, of Lisbon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathryn Ann (Buttermore) Briggs whom he married, August 23, 1952 and who died February 15, 2009; grandsons, Jack Randall "Randy" McMurdy and J.B. Morrison; and sons-in-law, Jerry Goodson and Ken Konz.
Private family services will be held.
The family would like to thank the wonderful Doctors and Staff at Alliance Community Hospital for their compassionate and exceptional care of their father. A special thanks to Rhonda Kibler, his caregiver.
