Willard (Bill) Harmon, age 98, of Alliance, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010, of natural causes after a short illness at the Mercy Medical Center in Canton.
He was born September 29, 1911, in Pittsburgh, PA to Elmer and Mary (Brooks) Harmon. He moved to Alliance in 1948 where he established Harmon's Barber Shop, working there until he retired. He was married for 44 years to Gizella Zaros, until her death in 1982.
Bill was a 40 year member Master Mason of Conrad Lodge No. 271 Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, Royal Arch Mason Canton Chapter No. 84, Canton Council No. 35 of the Royal and Select Masons, and a Knight in Knights Templar of Ohio, Canton Commandery No. 38. He was also member and former Worthy Patron of Grace Court No. 25 Amaranth of Alliance, Ohio.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed polka dancing.
Survivors include his companion of 24 years, Betty Kitse of Alliance; his sister, Virginia Lyons of Tampa, Florida; his daughters, Joyce Crain of Tucson, AZ and Martha Harmon of New York, NY; his son, Charles Harmon of Jackson, NJ; his son-in-law, Howard Kline of New York, NY; two grandchildren, Julian Kline and Asia Harmon; and a great-granddaughter, Ava Harmon.
Betty and his family will be receiving those who wish to express their condolences at his home, 525 W. Cambridge St., from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2010.
