William "Bill" Parker Lucas

William "Bill" Parker Lucas, 76, of Alliance, Ohio, passed gently into the arms of Jesus on April 25, 2016, in Fort Myers, Florida.
Born on November 9, 1939, to Carroll B. and Gwendolyn J. (Ferrell) Lucas, Bill graduated from Carrolton High School (1957). He went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Business Education from Mount Union College (1961) and a Master's Degree in Technical Eduation from the University of Akron (1980).
His love of teaching led to Brilliant High School (Ohio) and the Alliance High School where he was Distributive Education Coordinator. Joining the staff at Stark Technical College (Stark State College) in 1972, Bill was hired to develop the accounting curriculum and retired in June 1999 as the well-respected Department Chair of Accounting.
He was a past president of the Canton Chapter of the National Association of Accountants and a member of Phi Delta Kappa professional teaching fraternity. Bill proudly served on the Board of Trustees for NOVA Behavioral Health, Inc. (providing behavioral and mental health services to residents of Stark County), the American Association of Two-Year Colleges, and was a member of the Fort Myers Beach Masonic Lodge No. 362 and the Alliance Masonic Temple.
Bill is survived by his childhood and high school sweetheart, Shirley J. Reninger, whom he married in 1958. They were married 58 years at the time of his passing.
He is also survived by son, William Eric (Debbie) Lucas of Kettering, Ohio; daughter, Richelle Jean (Doug) Keinath of Laramie, Wyoming; grandchildren, Taylor (Josh) Stein, and Eric Lucas, both of Plain City, Ohio; and Parker Dale Lucas of Covington, Ohio; and brother and sister-in-law, Roy D. (Pam) Lucas of Columbus, Ohio.
Preceding Bill in death were his parents; an infant brother, Carroll; parents-in-law, Harry and Phyllis Reninger; and brother-in-law, David Reninger.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call two hours prior to the service.
