William "Bill" Carli, Jr. age 61, of Alliance, died at 1:13 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Aultman Hospital.
He was born May 29, 1947, in Alliance, to William and Betty (Parks) Carli.
A 1965 graduate of Alliance High School, Bill went on to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics Education from Mount Union College. While there he was a four year letterman on the golf team.
Bill was an Alliance High School teacher from 1969-2007 and taught mathematics, including Geometry and Computer Programming. He also served as Math Coach for the Alliance City Schools. He was named Alliance High School Teacher of the Year in 1981 and 1991 and named the 1990 Outstanding Mathematics Classroom Teacher by the East Central Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
Bill was Sleepy Hollow Club Champion in 1973, a member of the Eastern Ohio Football and Basketball Officials Association and refereed high school football and basketball in the Stark County area. His hobbies included softball and golf.
He is survived by his wife, Jan (Dimick) Carli whom he married June 25, 1976, one sister and five brothers; Forrest Carli, Greg Carli, Terry (Diana) Carli, Doug (Karen) Carli and Cindy (Jeff) Meiring, all of Alliance, and John (Patricia) Carli of New York; and numerous nieces and nephews.
William was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Ven. Shih Ying-Fa, Abbot of CloudWater Zendo of Cleveland, Ohio officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday.
