William "Bill" Henry Lare, age 81, of Alliance, died at 10:35 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2011 at his home.
He was born June 23, 1930, in Hartville, Ohio, to Henry F. and Janet M. (Lucas) Lare and was a lifelong resident.
Bill graduated in 1948 from the former Marlboro High School and was employed at Bruni Brothers for 30 years and Amster Kirtz in Canton for 20 years.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served as a military policeman during the Korean War and was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 166.
Bill's greatest past-times were playing cards at the American Legion, vacationing with family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife, Donna (Matticks) Lare, whom he married April 2, 1977; children, Lisa Bartlett, husband, Ronald, and children, Rachael and Gabrielle of Atwater; Sue Lare-Myers, husband, Patrick, and children, Mandy, Crystal and Danielle of Alliance; Jason Lare and son, Jacob, of Las Vegas; Kimberly Sales, husband, Robert and children, Brandi, Shawna, Sandy, Kelly, Chantal and Tara of King George, Va; and Edward Wilson of Alliance; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Bell; brother, Gene Lare, both of California; sister, Barbara Reynolds of Canton, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Lare.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2011, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.
