William "Willie" Holbert, age 91, of Alliance, passed away at 3 a.m., Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Green Meadows Health and Wellness Center in Louisville.
He was born April 24, 1923, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to Robert and Ruth (Wolverton) Holbert and has lived in the Alliance area since 1925.
Willie attended Atwater High School and had been employed as a truck driver for Pacific Intermountain Express. He had been a member of the Teamsters Local Union No. 24, and retired in 1985 after 25 years of service.
He was a member of the Atwater Congregational Church and a United States Army veteran, receiving the Jubilee of Liberty Medal, while serving during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Esther (Sukosd) Holbert of Alliance, whom he married December 31, 1948; daughter, Susan (Sean) Cudmore and two grandchildren, Kiera and Drew Cudmore, all of Acton, Massachusetts.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Holbert.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Green Meadows Health and Wellness Center and Crossroads Hospice for their compassionate and loving care of Willie.
Private services were held. Interment will be at Limaville Cemetery.
