William J. Danby II, age 82, of Alliance, died at 12:55 a.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Alliance Community Care Center.
He was born March 31, 1927 in Canton to Walter E. and Carrie L. (Brewer) Danby.
Mr. Danby was a 1945 Graduate of Timken Vocational High School and was employed by many automobile parts companies as a service and parts manager.
He was a member of the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church and served as custodian for 20 years, serving on various committees and D.A.V. Chapter 50. He served in the U.S. Army with the 24th Infantry Company C. Third Engineer Combat Battalion during WWII.
Survivors include his wife, Delores E. (Schwartz) whom he married May 21, 1946; sons, Thomas A. Danby of Sacramento, CA., Timothy L. Danby of Grand Prairie, TX., Terry E. (Sonok) Danby of Woodbridge, VA.; daughter Tracy A. Danby of Maplewood, MN.; two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tyler in 2003 and two brothers.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2009 at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Walter Jordan officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
