William Oral McIntyre Sr. age 85, of Alliance died at 9:00 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2009 at Community Care Center in Alliance.
He was born July 12, 1923 in Clarksburg, WV to Oral and Alta (Kimble) McIntyre and was an Alliance resident since 1947.
William was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Alliance and was employed by American Steel and also the Enon Construction Company.
A United States Army Veteran having served in World War II, Mr. McIntyre was recipient of a Purple Heart Medal and a Bronze Star Medal. He was an American Legion member in Deerfield and the DAV in Alliance.
Survivors include his sons, William O. (Dalyrae) McIntyre Jr. of Beloit and Jon Steven (Robin) McIntyre of Minerva; his daughters, Kittie M. Page of Alliance and Judith A. (Andrew) Rohrer of Urbana; brothers, Burl, Fred and Corky McIntyre; sister, Evelyn J. (Ed) Hunt; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
William was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Catherine Ann (Randolph) McIntyre, whom he married January 1 1947 and who preceded him in death October 14, 1994; a son, Clifford J. McIntyre; brothers, Robert Walker and James Walker Jr.; and his step-father, James Walker Sr.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2009 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor James McCurdy officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1815 W. Market St, Suite 100, Akron, Ohio 44313.
