William Monroe, age 72, of Alliance, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at his home.
Born June 22, 1937 in Alam, West Virginia, to Joseph and Dorothy (McCune) Monroe, William was an Alliance resident since 1950.
He was employed by American Steel Foundries for 32 years before his retirement in January of 1997.
William was in the United States National Guard and was a member of the Alliance Eagles Club. He liked to go camping, fishing and hunting when he was younger.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene (Hoover) Monroe of Alliance; son, William (Frankie) Monroe Jr. of Woodsfield; two granddaughters, Erica and Jakki Monroe; step granddaughter, Nichole Camron of Canton; and great-granddaughter, Macenzie Grace.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Joseph and Richard Monroe; and sisters, Joan Nation and Freda McLfresh.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2010 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Joseph Peters officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
