William Harold Stroup, age 70 of Alliance, died at 12:15 p.m. Monday September 29, 2003 at Aultman Hospital following an extended illness.
He was born April 14, 1933 in Alliance to William and Anna Eloise (Clarke) Stroup. A lifelong resident of Alliance, he retired from A&P Tea Company after 36 years of service.
Mr. Stroup was a member of Sleepy Hollow Golf Course for 38 years, and was a volunteer baseball coach for the Alliance Aviator's varsity teams for over 20 years. He enjoyed working with the teams very much, in addition to being devoted to his family.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie "Midge" Freshly Stroup, whom he married July 10, 1954, daughter Sherry of Homeworth, son Scott (Michelle) of Marlboro, and three grandchildren, Sarah, Molly and Brandon Stroup, all of Marlboro, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Crites of Marlboro Christian Church officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park.
