William "Zeke" Szekely, age 74, of Alliance, died at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born September 19, 1933 in Canton, Ohio to Joseph and Susie (Curtis) Szekely and was a resident of Alliance since his birth.
Bill was a member of the Science Hill Community Church in Alliance and was a life member of the VFW Post 1036 in Alliance.
He was a Marlboro High School graduate and was an overhead crane operator at Republic Steel in Canton. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Korean War.
Bill enjoyed his family, fishing, gardening, and winter vacationing in Florida.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia L. (May) Szekely of Alliance whom he married April 20, 1958; his son, William A. (Julie) Szekely of Alliance; daughter, Lisa A. (Timothy) Church of Yorktown, VA; granddaughters, Abbey R. (Aaron) Schmidt of Columbus and Taylor B. Church of Yorktown, VA; grandson, Adam T. Church of Yorktown, VA; sisters, Suzanne Szekely of Louisville, Kathryn Bielz of Canton and Helen Duff of Atwater; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Joseph.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday June 1, 2008 at Science Hill Community Church with Pastor Jon Truax officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
