William W. Milburn

William W. "Chief" Milburn, age 69 of Alliance, died at his home surrounded by his family and friends on Monday April 24, 2006.
He was born September 11, 1936 in Sistersville, West Virginia to Edgar R. and Emma (McCormick) Milburn and lived most of his life in the Alliance area.
Mr. Milburn was employed as a Millwright for Transue and William Stamping, and Ohio Castings. He was also employed as a truck driver and painter at Alliance Machine Company and Pittsburg Plate Glass in Canton as a glass cutter.
He was a member of the Alliance Baptist Temple, and was a former Boy Scout Leader for Troop 103. He served on the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department for 39 years and was their former Assistant Fire Chief and Fire Chief. He was a volunteer bus driver and Sunday School Teacher for the Alliance Baptist Temple.
Mr. Milburn enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, and fishing with his sons.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou (Baker) Milburn, whom he married April 25, 1964; one daughter, Darlene Schmucker of Alliance, two sons, John "Skip" (Judy) Milburn of Alliance, and Glen (Janet) Milburn of Alliance, seven grandchildren, Denise, John Jr., Glen Jr., Cody Allan, Ashley, Jessica and Rebecca; three great-grandchildren, Brady, Emmanuel, and Kendra; three sisters, Rhoda Mayberry of Canton, Geneva Lucas of Alliance, and Alberta Bethel of Indiana; one brother, David Milburn of Canton, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Milburn was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Frances and Betty, and two brothers, Herbert and Jimmy, and two nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Alliance Baptist Temple with Pastor Randy Payne officiating. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
The Stark County Fire Fighter's Association will conduct a Memorial Service at 5:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park with Military Honors to be provided by the Alliance VFW and American Legion Post of Alliance.
