William R. "Bill" Zumkehr

William R. (Bill) Zumkehr, age 82, of Alliance, passed away at 7:05 p.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born November 7, 1935, in Alliance, Ohio, to F. W. (Bill) and Hulda Zumkehr.
He was a 1953 graduate of Alliance High School and a 1957 graduate of Mount Union College.
Bill was owner of The Zumkehr Agency from 1958 until his retirement December 31, 1997. He also worked for the Kommel Agency and Clayton Agency in real estate.
A life member of the First Christian Church, he was a former member of the church board, Deacon and assisted as a youth advisor.
Bill was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity Chapter No. 944, Beta Iota Chapter and an avid Alliance Aviator, Purple Raider and Ohio State football fan.
He loved trains, large and small, and enjoyed helping with train rides leaving from the Dennison Depot in Dennison, Ohio.
Survivors include his cousins, Charles (Cathy) Zumkehr of Kent, Lyle (Margaret) Krabill and Lee Krabill of Louisville; and longtime friend, Betty Rush of Alliance.
William was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Barbara.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at First Christian Church with Pastor Aaron Phillips and Sue DeHoff co-officiating. Friends may call the hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
