William R. “Bill” Willis, age 79, of Alliance, passed away at 6:58 p.m. May 31, 2019 at Community Care Center.
He was born February 23, 1940 in Barberton, Ohio to William D. and Mary (Lucas) Willis.
A 1958 graduate of Alliance High School, Bill retired as a Sales Rep. from Filnor Inc. in 2010. He was formerly an Interior Designer with S.P. Brown Draperies.
Bill was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
A life member of BPOE No. 467, Bill was most proud of the projects that he and his ‘circle of friends’ accomplished.
A National Guard veteran, he was former chairman of the Veterans Memorial with the Alliance Elks.
Bill was the recipient of the Ohio Elks Association, Elk of the Year in 2010. He was formerly active with Keep Alliance Beautiful, Alliance Jaycees, American Legion and active with the College Inn in 1992.
Bill was known for being Santa Claus at his home on Belleflower and enjoyed tailgating at the Mount Union Football games.
Survivors include his fiancee’ Pat L. Kaminski of Alliance, daughters, Lori (Larry) Stuckey of Alliance, and Karen Willis of Canton, son, Brian S. (Lisa) Willis of Alliance; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and sisters, Helen Wilson, Shirley (Donald) Haupt, and Edan (Joe) Nolan, all of Alliance.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Alliance Elks No. 467 at a later date.
Bill will be remembered for his most famous quote “I only need you for five minutes”.
