Willma M. Hampton age 85 of Alliance, died at 5:29 a.m. Friday February 20, 2004 in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
Mrs. Hampton was born July 31, 1918 in Alliance, Ohio to George F. and Elma A. (Farra) Malone. She graduated from Alliance High School and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois in 1940. Mrs. Hampton also did post graduate studies at Kent State University.
She taught elementary education from 1950-1956 at Washington Elementary School in Alliance, then from 1956-1969 she taught home economics at Alliance High School before teaching vocational home economics at United High School from 1969-1982.
Mrs. Hampton was a member of Union Avenue United Methodist Church, Ohio Education Association, National Education Association, and Embroiderer's Guild of America.
Survivors include one son, James Frederick Hampton of Longwood, Florida and three grandsons; Michael, Bryan and Kevin.
Mrs. Hampton was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Carol Hampton, and one infant grandson, Brent Hampton.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Gordon Ruggles officiating. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alliance Visiting Nurse and Hospice Association, 885 S. Sawburg Rd. Alliance, Ohio 44601.
