Wilma A. Baker, age 97, passed away on November 15, 2023.

She was born on April 28, 1926, in Portage County, to Herschel John and Bessie Mabel (Taylor) Butler.

Wilma attended Atwater High School. She was the assistant manager at Art’s Jewelers and a sales manager at Francis Jeweler’s in Alliance. Wilma then worked part time at Hinz Jewelers in Sugarland, TX. She was a member of Atwater United Methodist Church and the Elks Auxiliary where she was a past President.

Wilma enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, and sewing.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Larry Elwood Libis; daughters, Cheryl Libis Campbell, Terri Libis Osborn and Jill Baker Parker; seven granddaughters, Paula, Courtney, Lindsay, Jeni, Rachel, Jaime and Katie; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Abby, Alden, Luke, Clara, Sophie, Caleb, Landen, Hadley, Ethan, Marsaili, Hope, Ellery, Nevin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William R. Baker; three sisters, Estel Breit, Zela Woolman and Doris Butler; and three brothers, Virgil, Warren and Wilmer Jacobs.

A funeral service will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Saturday, November 18th at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior.
