Wilma E. Smith

Wilma E. Smith, age 95, of Alliance, passed away at 7:40 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2015, at McCrea Manor.
She was born November 16, 1919, in Lore City, Ohio, to Russell Duncan and Zella (Brown) Reid.
Wilma was a graduate of Alliance High School and Canton Business School. She was employed at McCaskey Register and Woolworths until her retirement.
A long-time member of Vine Street United Methodist Church since 1937, she was also involved in Marlboro Woman's Club, Women's Benefit Life Association, Woolworth's Retiree Group and many card clubs. She enjoyed crafting and traveling to Florida.
Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn McKnight of Alliance; grandson, Todd McKnight of Kent; and several nieces and nephews.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orzie W. Smith whom she married August 23, 1945 and who died December 18, 2001; and her sister, Virginia Carnes.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Vine Street United Methodist Church with Dr. David Bloor officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, April 27, 2015, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
