With much sadness, we regret to inform the world our Mother, Yukiko Ziegler passed away on Monday September 29, 2003, in Tallmadge, Ohio. She formerly resided in Alliance.
She was born on October 18, 1932 in the village of Mikuni, near Osaka, Japan to her parents Asakichi and Fumiko (Kameo) Kinoshita.
She received her formal education in Japan and later attended college. Upon her graduation, she started her own business where she was a designer and creator of Japanese apparel.
In 1956, she married the late William A. Ziegler while he was in the Air Force and stationed in Japan. They moved to Alliance, Ohio one year later. Mrs. Ziegler attended classes to learn the English language, and later she proudly became a naturalized citizen.
While raising a family, she used her skills to become Head Tailor for many of the Men's clothing stores in the Alliance area, and later did custom alterations at home, until physical limitations caused her to retire from her profession.
She enjoyed bingo, games, crocheting, trips to Las Vegas, and time spent with her family and friends. She was a beloved wife and mother and was a kind and caring friend to all who knew her and will be missed greatly by all.
She leaves behind two sons, Michael of Alliance, and Charles (Diane) of Mechanicsburg, and two daughters Kathleen (Dean) Ziegler-Bartels of Tallmadge, and Christine (Daniel) Shankle of Alliance, six grandchildren Derek and Andrea Bowers, and Zachary, Nicholas, Paige and Joseph Ziegler, three sisters Tamiko Tonosky of Newark, Ohio, Kazuko (Kuozo) Tosaka, of Tokyo, Japan, Fumiyo Onish of Japan, one brother Tadahito Kinoshita of Osaka, Japan, many nieces and nephews still living in Japan, and three nieces, May (Ben) Long, of Minot, North Dakota, and June Rine and Mary Mason, both of Newark, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William, who died April 28, 1998, and three brothers, Morio, Katuhito and Hirohito Kinoshita.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Curtis Blasiman of Upland Friends in Upland, Indiana officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Alliance Visiting Nurse and Hospice Association, Summit Co. Kidney Foundation, American Diabetes Association, or Catholic Youth Organization Community Service (CYO of Akron).
